To My Big Guy!
It's very hard for me to believe that we celebrated your 3rd birthday last week. You often tell me all of the things that you are going to do when you are "big," like ride horses and motorcycles and become a firefighter. Aside from the millions I'd make in doing so, I'd like to be the one to discover how to slow time down so I could expand the distance between now and then and get better at enjoying it all. I am not currently in favor of you getting "big," even though each and every day you do or say something to make me realize it's happening right before my eyes.
Recently, I have thought a lot about the fact that Dominic had no siblings until just before he turned your age and you have always been used to sharing toys, having a playmate and a teacher, divided attention and a continuous flow of hand me downs. Even so, you have absolutely made your mark as an individual and continue to show us all that your opinion counts - even if the only reason why is because it's the loudest.
Dante,
You are funny, sweet, smart, handsome and can use a catch phrase like no other three year old. You know just how to nuzzle your little head into my neck so I completely melt. You know what you like and won't compromise and I can only imagine that you learned how to use those big browns eyes to your advantage, just like your Mommy.
Happily awaiting what year number three will bring!
I love you,
Mom
